The wait is over for NHL Hockey Betting fans, as the 2009-10 National Hockey League season begins its long grind Thursday night.

Next up on the opening night slate is a battle between Eastern Conference powers, as the Boston Bruins host the Alexander Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals (7 pm ET, VERSUS).
Boston is a -135 favorite and the total is 6.
Washington has struggled against Boston over the past several seasons, going 7-13-2 SU over the past 22 meetings overall, and 2-10-2 SU in the past 14 meetings in Boston. However, the Capitals have fared better recently, going 4-1 SU in the past five meetings.
There are two late matchups Thursday, including the San Jose Sharks visiting the Colorado Avalanche (10 pm ET, VERSUS).
The Sharks are a -170 favorite and the over/under total is 5.5.
San Jose is a dominating 6-1 SU in the past seven meetings.
The final opening-night game features a pair of Northwest division rivals as the Vancouver Canucks visit the Calgary Flames (10 pm ET, CBC).
Calgary is a -125 favorite and the total is 5.5.
Vancouver is 4-2 SU in the past six meetings.
