The always popular Monday Night Football makes its regular season debut tonight with a double-header, starting with Tom Brady’s return at the helm of the New England Patriots, who host AFC East rival Buffalo Bills (7 pm ET, ESPN).

The Patriots opened as 10.5-point home favorites last week, but NFL betting fans have pushed that number up to 12 in NFL Betting Odds at betED.com.

The heavy public backing of New England is no surprise considering the Pats are 5-0 SU and ATS in the past five meetings overall, and 5-0 SU in the past five at home.

In their last preseason game, the Bills were upset 17-6 by the Detroit Lions as 3-point favorites. That game’s 23 points went under the total of 34.

And BenJarvus Green-Ellis ran for 125 yards and three touchdowns as the Patriots defeated the Giants 38-27 in their final preseason game last time out. The Patriots won the game as a 3-point underdog, and the score sailed over the total of 36.

In the second game Monday, the San Diego Chargers and the Oakland Raiders clash at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum (10 pm ET, ESPN).

betED.com has the Chargers listed as 10-point favorites and the total at 43.

The Chargers finished the preseason with a dominating 26-7 victory against the 49ers. The Chargers covered the 3.5-point spread, while the 33 points went under the 37.

The Raiders were defeated 31-21 by the Seattle Seahawks in their final preseason game last time out, as 3-point underdogs.

San Diego is 5-0 SU and ATS in the past five meetings in Oakland.
