Miami-VT highlight of NCAAF Week 4

Posted on 9/22/2009 Posted by Rob_Gerein

Week 4 doesn’t have many head to head match-ups between the Top 25, but that’s not saying there’s no big games. In fact, I had trouble picking out just four.

Miami Hurricanes (-2.5) @ Virginia Tech Hokies (+2.5)

(9/26/09 3:30 pm ET, ABC)

The public loves what they see from Miami, and how can they not like the Canes? After many thought they’d start the season 0-4, they have come out swinging, already beating two Top 25 teams to start the season. Will the Hurricanes continue to surprise, or will Virginia Tech power through 13th ranked Miami?

Arkansas Razorbacks (+15.5) @ Alabama Crimson Tide (-15.5)

(9/26/09 3:30 pm ET)

The Razorbacks are big dogs on the road against the Tide, but are solid, and with some big plays could spell upset. Alabama smoked Arkansas on the road last year, but usually the home team wins this SEC battle. Can Ryan Mallet and company pull the upset or will the home team return to glory?

California Golden Bears (-6) @ Oregon Ducks (+6)

(9/26/09 3:30 pm ET, ABC)

After losing to Boise State early, and seeing their star running back get suspended after his Week 1 punch, the Ducks have fought back with two big wins, including ending the Nation’s longest winning streak by ousting Utah last week. The Bears have put up 146 points over the first three games. A Pac-10 opener for both teams, this should be a dandy.

Iowa Hawkeyes (+10) @ Penn State Nittany Lions (-10)

(9/26/09 8:00 pm ET, ABC)

You don’t have to go back far to find a reason to call this game big. With Penn State destined for a spot in the National Championship, the Hawkeyes rushed to a win, upsetting the Nittany Lions, 24-23 last season. The Lions will be looking for payback. One thing’s for sure, both teams won’t stay undefeated.
