Buckeyes, Vols meet in Sweet 16

The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Tennessee Volunteers meet Friday in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament at the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis (7:05 pm ET, CBS).

The Buckeyes are the No. 2 seed and the Tennessee Volunteers are the sixth seed in the Midwest region.

The Buckeyes are a -215 moneyline, 4.5-point favorite and the total is at 134 in NCAA Tournament Betting Odds at betED.com.

Head-to-head, Ohio State is 2-1 straight up and 1-2 against the point spread in the past three clashes.

The teams haven’t squared off since Jan. 19, 2008, when Tennessee won 74-69 but couldn’t cover as an 11.5-point home favorite. The score went under the total of 147.5.

The Vols (27-8 SU, 14-16-2 ATS) beat the upstart Ohio Bobcats 83-68 in the second round last Saturday, cashing as 9-point favorites. The score went over the 143.5-point total.

The Buckeyes (29-7 SU, 18-18 ATS) got past the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets 75-66 in their second-round matchup on Sunday. Ohio State covered as a 6.5-point favorite and the score went over the total of 134.5.

Tennessee is 7-1 SU in its past eight games but just 6-11-1 ATS in its past 18 games. The total has gone under in 11 of Tennessee’s last 16 games.

Ohio State is 5-0 SU in its last five, and the total has gone over in four of its past five.
